Health insurance

European Health Insurance Card

If you are going to a European Union country, you can benefit from the “carte européenne d’assurance maldie” (CEAM) to be covered by your home country’s Social Security in that country.

Expatriate health insurance

For expatriation outside the European Union, it is advisable to take out expatriate health insurance, either for the 1st euro or in addition to the Caisse des Français de l’étranger. This insurance will enable you to cover medical expenses abroad, particularly in the event of illness, hospitalisation or repatriation (Inpatient).

Outpatient cover (medical visits to a general practitioner, ophthalmology, dental treatment, etc.) can also be added as an option to this cover.
